Hill Country Exploration, Inc., is a family-owned and operated oil and gas exploration and production company. The oil company also serves as the Managing General Partner of every partnership formed to pursue a drilling opportunity. Its sister company, Douglas Scott Securities, Inc., is a Direct Participation Program (DPP) broker/dealer and nationally licensed member firm of FINRA. The broker/dealer capitalizes all of the drilling programs.

As President & Co-Founder of Hill Country, I oversee the day-to-day activities of the company, including dealing with high net-worth investors, vendors, contractors, and operators. Hire and manage general contractors, anticipate and deal with regulatory issues, and prepare authority for expenditures (cost estimates for drilling projects). My position requires that I interface with geologists and engineers about drilling prospects as well as ongoing operational projects in need of remediation. Serving as the administrative officer for the company, my responsibilities include finance, human resources, regulatory, legal, technology, and investor relations while leading a team of 15 professionals.

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Grew company from the ground up to $8 million in annual sales

  • Drilled over 200 wells in 5 states with a proven track record for finding commercial reserves

  • Came in at or below cost estimates on 90% of all drilling ventures as compared with a 76% industry-wide average Improved cash flow, decreased operational overhead and increased production revenues through implementation of field facility improvements and new technologies

  • Achieved higher success rates and better financial margins through contractor and vendor due diligence, economic feasibility studies, cash flow projections, and ensuring geologic accuracy of oil and gas prospects

  • Directed bookkeeping department for A/R, A/P and tax preparation for General Partnerships across multi-state and federal jurisdictions.

  • Worked seamlessly with securities industry legal experts in creating disclosure documents and private placement offerings for the sale of oil and gas General Partnership interests through a nationally licensed member firm of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority

Westweave Mills / Western Solutions – Santa Ana, CA


Westweave Mills was the commercial floor covering division of ETC Carpet Mills, LTD of La Mirada, California. Westweave was a leading manufacturer with regards to specification and implementation of Olefin (polypropylene) as a less expensive, stain resistant fiber for commercial flooring applications.

Western Solutions, also a division of ETC Carpet Mills, LTD, was the first carpet manufacturer in the United States to make all of its products out of recyclable nylon fibers and yarns and was committed to being an environmentally concerned manufacturer.

As Account Executive for Westweave Mills / Western Solutions, I managed both retail and design accounts for Orange and Riverside Counties in Southern California. I was tasked with becoming a Specifications Consultant as I would coordinate and produce formal design presentation drawings and material boards for specification and implementation to our Southern California Hospitality, Healthcare and Retail Design Community clients which included Restaurant Enterprises, Hilton Hotels, Sheraton Hotels, Travelodge Hotels and Golds Gym’s FHP Healthcare, Three Day Blinds, Carl’s Jr., and TGI Friday’s.

Royalty Carpet Mills, Inc. is distinguished as the only privately owned west-coast carpet manufacturer vertically integrated throughout the manufacturing process. This integration has allowed PacifiCrest Mills to advance its leadership in technological innovation and quality control and service, which were all critical to a manufacturer’s viability in the commercial marketplace. PacifiCrest has had a reputation in the commercial marketplace for creativity and quality.

As Account Executive for PacifiCrest Mills, I managed both retail and design accounts for Orange and Riverside Counties in Southern California. Account Executive - 1987 – 1990
Monroe Schneider Associates – Santa Ana, CA


Monroe Schneider Associates was a San Francisco, CA based commercial flooring Contractor. In 1991they began acquiring regional flooring contractor firms across the nation and in 1996 they were purchased by DuPont for $60 million Dollars.

At the time, DuPont was the largest supplier of fiber in the carpet industry and this was seen as an effort to gain market share. DuPont then established DuPont Flooring Systems, changed its name to the “Inviromentalists”, and in 2004 DuPont sold “Invista”, DuPont’s nylon business – which included the “Inviromentalists” to Koch Industries for $4.4 billion dollars.

As an Account Executive, I acted as a specification consultant with the Southern California Hospitality, Healthcare and Retail Design Community. This gave me a chance to utilize my business skills to coordinate and produce formal design presentation drawings and material boards for specification and implementation to clients. Too, I specializing in high-rise commercial office buildings and tenant finish out through Property Management companies.

Mann-Mann, Inc. was an interior finish and design company specializing in high-rise commercial office buildings, hotels & resorts, high density residential and mixed use projects. Mann-Mann, Inc. was based in Dallas, Texas but also kept an office in Austin, TX to service client needs there.

As Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), my role put me in charge of most, if not all, of the company's daily activities. I utilized my strong leadership and interpersonal skills in managing multiple offices and departments, including finance, marketing, inventory, sales and human resources.

As an Account Manager, I was self-driven and worked independently to oversee and coordinate all tenant finish projects which included on site building material and workmanship inspections. Through good decision-making skills and analytical thinking, I was able to develop and implement business strategies to meet and exceed my client’s expectations.

My organizational and time-management skills were critical as I also contributed to a sales team that grew the company from a small residential carpet company into the second largest commercial floor covering company in the City of Dallas.
